Together with the book's characters, the Pokatushkin family, readers will find themselves in a magical forest where talking trees grow and very cute (and not at all scary) witches live with their assistants – owls, black cats, and bats. Each witch has her own disposition and character. For example, Witch Sonya loves to sleep, and Witch Kiskis adores cats. Witch Vrednyuchka plays tricks on everyone, and Witch Agata loves to exaggerate and tell tall tales, which is why her nose grows very long. Also in this forest, you can meet a vampire in love, a noble skeleton, and a family of absent-minded wizards. There is its own school of witchcraft, a market where witches buy herbs and dried frogs for their potions, and shops where elegant robes, pointy hats, and fast brooms are sold. Witches have picnics, visit each other, play sports, shop, brew potions, and cast spells, and at night they gather for a big celebration with fireworks and dancing. Children will be able to "read" about all this themselves, turning page after page and following the storylines through the pictures. Each resident of the magical forest in this book has their own story, unfolding throughout all five spreads! Like any wimmelbuch, "Merry Witches" is a true silent film. By examining the book, children will learn to notice details, find logical connections between events, and independently create a story based on the pictures.
