Stoic

"The Stoic" is the third and final installment of Theodore Dreiser's "trilogy of desire," based on the life of American millionaire Charles Yerkes, who played a significant role in developing the Chicago public transportation system and the London Underground. The protagonist, Frank Cowperwood, moves his activities to London, deciding to build the underground railway. As before, the hero lurches from one battle to another, overcoming significant obstacles, and remaining at the pinnacle of financial power for the rest of his life.
