Dixit

This game will appeal to everyone with a vivid creative imagination who is capable of clothing images in intricate words, adorning them with a veil of mystery. However, if you are not an expert in such matters, you will become one after just a couple of games. You will be surprised by how much your imaginative thinking will change. As for age, there are no restrictions at all. The game is equally suitable for families and for groups of people of different ages.

Rules of the game

Each player will have their own personal rabbit, or rather, a "rabbit-meeple." This will be the piece that moves across the game board. Each player will also have 6 cards. And what cards they are! Each one is from the brush of French artist Marie Cardouat and is a true work of art. The cards feature illustrations that can evoke various associations. In fact, the game itself is based on these associations. The essence of the game is that the storyteller must choose one of their cards, place it face down in the center, and describe it in any way possible: with words, gestures, facial expressions, humming, etc. There are no restrictions. After that, other players choose cards that they think best fit the description and also place them in the center. The cards are shuffled and laid out in a row face up. After this, everyone can vote for the card they think belonged to the storyteller. Voting is carried out using tokens. Points are awarded as follows: if no one guesses the card or everyone guesses it, the storyteller receives 2 points. In other cases, the person who guessed correctly and the storyteller each receive 3 points. If other players voted for a non-storyteller's card, that player receives 1 point for each vote. The game ends when players have no cards left in their hands.

Game strategy

The storyteller's strategy is to avoid making the description too simple, while also not making it too complex. In the first case, everyone will guess it; in the second, no one will. In either case, it will not yield any points. The strategy for the guessers is to identify the card and confuse the other guessers. Moreover, the closer their card is to the description, the more people will be confused and the more points it will bring the player.

Recognition

Over the years, Dixit has received dozens of international awards, including the German "Game of the Year" award. However, an even greater recognition than international awards is the appreciation of board game enthusiasts who have fallen in love with Dixit for its originality and uniqueness.
