The Adventures of Cipollino (illustrated by L. Vladimirsky)

A story about how a cheerful and mischievous onion boy named Cipollino helps the residents of his fruit and vegetable country free themselves from the power of the hated cruel Prince Lemon, the evil Signor Tomato, and the nasty Countess Cherries. Cipollino and his friends manage to free all the prisoners from jail, defeat the lemon army, and drive Prince Lemon and his little lemons out of the kingdom, and turn the Countess Cherries' castle into a Children's Palace.
