This book brings together stories by the remarkable children's writer and artist Evgeny Ivanovich Charushin: "Bear Cubs" – about playful little animals growing up in a village; "The Fisherman Bear" – about spring in Kamchatka; "A Scary Story" – about someone scaring the children at night; and "The Pig" – about an unexpected acquaintance of the old spoon maker Yegorych. The illustrations for these stories were drawn by the writer's son, the talented animal artist Nikita Evgenievich Charushin.
