This small collection simply had to come into being. It includes very simple, very understandable, and at the same time wildly imaginative prose and poetic works. What unites them is their unique intonation, gentle absurdity, and kind humor of the authors. Two wonderfully talented people – Yuri Koval and Leonid Mezinov – collaborated for some time. This is how "Red Beard" and "The Tale of the Teapot" came into existence – whether they are tall tales or fabrications. Matching the heroes of these cheerful stories is the astounding company gathered in Yuri Koval's poems. Here are curious elephants, crocodiles growing in the garden, cats and dogs of all colors and breeds, and a cyclist – just imagine! – with cuckoos on his head and nightingales on his shoes, and the cunning Ivan hiding in a chest, and even a king with Lilliputians. And all these heroes are so endearing, funny, and relatable that readers of all ages fall irrevocably in love with them from the very first lines. Artist Alexey Charugin, with childlike sincerity, created a bright, joyful, fairy-tale space populated by colorful characters. Recommended for preschool and elementary school children, as well as anyone who appreciates good literary language and the magical flight of creative thought.
