Connie and Troubles

Parents very often think that children get upset over trifles. Well, you didn't manage to press the elevator button first — you'll press it next time. The pony mug broke — it's not a big deal, we'll buy a new one. In our eagerness to cheer up our little one, we often devalue their feelings, yet for them, every incident is important, every disruption to their plan is a world-scale catastrophe.

Our parental task is to give the child support and show them ways to deal with disappointment, frustration, and anger. And at the same time, to inspire them to find solutions in difficult situations.

Connie's day started badly: Dad's cup broke, her ice cream fell right into a puddle, and the cat scratched her favorite teddy bear. Anyone would be upset in such a situation. But Connie didn't mope for long, because her parents were there, ready to listen, comfort her, and help solve the problem.
