Agnia Lvovna Barto wrote the cycle "Toys" in the 1930s. The decision to publish in those years was made at a publishing house meeting. About "Toys" it was said: "The poems are good, but the rhymes need to be redone, they are difficult for children to perceive." Barto did not redo the rhymes; after some time, the poems were still published. Now, with several generations having grown up on Agnia Lvovna's poems, this story is hard to believe.
Agnia Barto's poems are known and loved by grandmothers and grandfathers, mothers and fathers, and, of course, our children. And as for the little ones who are not yet familiar with the work of this wonderful children's poet, one can only envy them. After all, they are just about to have a wonderful introduction to poems about their favorite toys: the bear that was dropped on the floor; the timid bull-calf; the wet bunny; the cat not used to riding in a truck.
