The Priest's Daughter

"A Clergyman's Daughter" is a novel quite unlike the sarcastic "Animal Farm" and the dark dystopia "1984." It will introduce you to a different Orwell—a master of psychological realism. The novel's heroine, a clergyman's daughter Dorothy, deeply religious and leading a righteous life, loses her memory in an accident and completely abandons her faith in God. Dorothy becomes a petty con artist and joins a gang of vagrants. After some time, her memory returns, but not her faith.
