I.A. Krylov was a poet, writer, translator, and the most famous Russian fabulist. Krylov's fables are familiar to everyone from childhood, and many of their expressions have truly become proverbial. The main characters of his works are animals, whom the author endowed with human failings. His fables instill honesty, courage, decency, and diligence, while exposing flattery, stupidity, and cruelty. This book includes his most well-known fables: "The Crow and the Fox," "The Quartet," "The Monkey and the Glasses," "The Dragonfly and the Ant," "The Elephant and the Pug," "Demyan's Fish Soup," and others.
